The meth-gators are coming.
Police in Tennessee are warning drug dealers against the dangers of flushing methamphetamine down the toilet.
“Folks…please don’t flush your drugs m’kay,” Loretto Police Department wrote on Facebook on Saturday, adding that “if it made it far enough we could create meth-gators.”
Authorities warned that discarding of drugs in such a manner could poison marine life in the Shoal Creek and the Tennessee River in North Alabama.
Taking a shot against the neighboring state, authorities said: “They’ve had enough methed-up animals the past few weeks without our help. So, if you need to dispose of your drugs just give us a call and we will make sure they are disposed of in the proper way.”
The warning comes after the arrest of a Lawrence County man who unsuccessfully attempted to flush down meth along with several items of paraphernalia. Andy Perry was booked Saturday into Lawrence County Jail on charges of several drug possession.
