Brendan Fraser got emotional — again — during yet another standing ovation for his role in “The Whale.”
After the screening of the movie at the BFI London Film Festival on Tuesday, the audience gave a five-minute standing ovation, according to the Daily Mail.
The 53-year-old actor broke down in tears as he bowed to the British Film Institute audience’s cheers and applause.
This isn’t the first time Fraser was moved to waterworks by a standing ovation. At the Venice International Film Festival in early September, he got emotional during a six-minute standing ovation for his performance in the Darren Aronofsky-directed movie.
Audience members got déjà vu from the standing O.
“Am I at Venice? 5 min standing ovation for Brendan Fraser’s masterpiece performance in #TheWhale. He had the crowd in the palm of his hand the entire movie. My heart is in my throat,” one person tweeted.
“I have never seen a standing ovation at London Film Festival but Brendan Fraser just blew the roof off,” another tweeted.
“One of the most amazing moments I’ve experienced in a cinema. Brendan Fraser starring as ‘Charlie’ in #TheWhale got the standing ovation it deserved at #LFF,” ITN reporter Lucy Jones tweeted.
In Aronofsky’s psychological drama “The Whale,” Fraser plays a 600-pound gay man in a wheelchair. His character tries to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter, played by “Stranger Things” star Sadie Sink, after he abandoned his family for his lover.
The film marks “The Mummy” actor’s comeback to Hollywood following a battle with depression after a former Hollywood Foreign Press Association president allegedly sexually assaulted him in 2003.
“The Whale” will be released in theaters on Dec. 9.
