Aaron Carter’s final project, a TV pilot, to be released

Aaron Carter’s last project will be released as planned and dedicated to his memory after his untimely death.

The 34-year-old “I Want Candy” singer’s management has given their blessing for writer-director Brian Farmer to release an independent sitcom pilot titled “Group,” which Carter had already completed filming.

“I was heartbroken to hear the shocking news about Aaron on Saturday,” Farmer said in a statement, Deadline reported on Tuesday. “Aaron was so excited about the show and helping raise awareness for mental health, a topic he was very passionate about. He said being a part of the show gave him something positive to work toward, and I’ll forever cherish that.

“He was such a kind soul and a pleasure to work with, and he will be dearly missed by everyone who was a part of ‘Group’ and countless others. My heart goes out to his family and friends,” he added.

The series — which is currently in post-production — takes place in group therapy and explores mental health advocacy, according to the outlet. Carter reportedly played a fictional version of himself, a role he was eager to take on and open up about his real-life struggles.

Carter revealed he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder on “The Doctors” in 2019.

The cast also includes Samm Levine, Olive Chiacchia, Ari Stidham, Ashley Brinkman, Kevin Clayette, Abdoulaye NGom, Anne Judson-Yager, and Mike Starr.

Carter was found dead in his bathtub in his California home on Saturday. A cause of death has yet to be determined but multiple cans of compressed air were reportedly found around him.
