Robert Griffin III takes ayahuasca jab at Aaron Rodgers: ‘Completely different world’

Robert Griffin III appeared to blame Aaron Rodgers’ ayahuasca use for his struggles following the Packers’ 15-9 loss to the lowly Lions on Sunday.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown,” Griffin reacted to Green Bay’s fifth straight loss, saying that Rodgers needs to “be better” for his teammates.

“In order for [the Green Bay Packers] to dig themselves out of this hole, they need the best version of Aaron Rodgers,” he said. “And right now, that ayahuasca seems like it has him in a completely different world.”

Ayahuasca is a plant-based psychedelic tea containing the hallucinogenic drug DMT, which Rodgers said helped him to perform better on the football field due to its mental benefits.

The two-time reigning NFL MVP used ayahuasca in the 2020 and 2022 offseasons.

“I did ayahuasca in 2020 and I won two MVPs,” Rodgers told Fox Sports in September. “I don’t believe that it’s a coincidence. I don’t really believe in coincidences.

“I believe in science and synchronicities, and I really feel like that what that allowed me to do is to have a greater love for the game that I play, greater love for my teammates and I had maybe my best season of my career in 2020 and then followed up last year with an even greater integration of a lot of those lessons.”

During an appearance on the “Aubrey Marcus Podcast” in September, the quarterback said that he and his ex-girlfriend, NASCAR star Danica Patrick, took a trip to Peru to do ayahuasca with some friends.

Rodgers — who called it quits with Patrick in July 2020 after two years of dating — explained that the psychedelic “gave [him] a deep and meaningful appreciation for life” and helped him find “self-love.”

However, Rodgers and the Packers have struggled this season after losing Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams — who led the team in receiving yards from 2017-21 — to the Raiders.

In Sunday’s loss the Lions, Rodgers threw three interceptions in a single game for the first time since 2017. All three picks came in the red zone. Rodgers finished 23-of-42 for 291 yards with one touchdown.
