Straphanger punched, robbed in random attack on NYC subway: cops

A straphanger was socked in the face and robbed in a random attack on a Manhattan train early Tuesday, cops said.

The 24-year-old man was on board a southbound No. 1 train approaching Rector Street around 4:30 a.m. when two males punched him without provocation, authorities said.

They grabbed his wallet — holding an unspecified amount of cash — and cellphone, police said.

The pair ran out of the train when it pulled into the station, cops said.

The victim refused medical attention at the scene.

The incident comes after at least six straphangers were attacked within the city’s subway system between Sunday and Monday.
