Good things come to those who wait — but Will Levis probably didn’t imagine it would be this long Thursday.
The former Kentucky quarterback slid all the way through the opening round of the 2023 NFL Draft, prompting a flurry of memes and tweets from couch GMs.
“Will Levis eats banana peels and puts mayo in his coffee and it’s possible NFL teams just drew the line with that and said no way,” Yahoo sports columnist Dan Wetzel tweeted.
Meanwhile, others opined on Levis as he was comforted by his family members.
“Oh no, Will Levis mom hugging him right as everyone looked so sad,” one user tweeted.
Three quarterbacks were selected Thursday in the first round of the NFL draft: Bryce Young at No. 1 overall to the Panthers; C.J. Strout to the Texans at No. 2; Anthony Richardson at No. 4 to the Colts.
Levis, however, remained in the green room and was not picked in the first round.
Just two days earlier, the Kentucky product was expected to be selected second overall, and according to ESPN analytics, there was a 92 percent chance that Levis was going to be picked in the top 10.
He made headlines earlier this week over a Reddit rumor about his projected draft stock.
It was alleged that Levis had been telling friends and family he would be selected first overall.
The allegation naturally turned the sports betting world on its head.
But the waiting game for Levis continues into Friday on Day 2 of the draft.
