A high-ranking Hezbollah field commander and suspected terrorist mastermind was killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a moving car in Lebanon Tuesday, the Israeli military said.
Dramatic aerial footage released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) showed a rocket striking a sedan traveling outside the city of Tyre, Lebanon, which turns into a speeding fireball.
IDF wrote on X that the bombing “eliminated” Ismail Yusaf Baz, commander of Hezbollah’s coastal sector.
The Israeli military claimed Baz held several senior positions within the military wing of the Iran-backed terrorist organization and was involved in the planning of rocket and anti-tank missile launches targeting Israel.
“During the war, he organized and planned a number of terrorist attacks against Israel,” the IDF said.
Two other people were injured in Tuesday’s attack carried out by the Israeli air force.
Video recorded on the ground in Ain Baal, Lebanon, showed the twisted wreckage of Baz’s car engulfed in flames by the side of the road.
The deadly airstrike came in response to a Hezbollah drone attack that injured three Israelis in the Galilee region Tuesday, reported Ynet.
