Scottie Scheffler reveals first look at newborn son with wife Meredith before PGA Championship

New dad Scottie Scheffler is beaming with pride over his and wife Meredith’s bundle of joy.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the two-time Masters winner gave fans a glimpse at the couple’s newborn son, Bennett, who arrived last Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

“Welcome to the world little one. Your mom & dad love you so much,” the 27-year-old Scheffler captioned the post that featured him cradling the baby in his arms.

Bennett’s arrival has been anticipated for some time, as Scheffler shared at the 2024 Masters last month that he would be “ready to go at a moment’s notice” if Meredith went into labor.

“As far as her going into labor, I wouldn’t say I’m very concerned, we haven’t seen any of the early signs, but pregnancy is weird and it can happen at any time. But, yeah, open lines of communication and she can get ahold of me if she needs to,” he told reporters at Augusta.

Scheffler went on to win his second green jacket after shooting a final-round 68 for a total of 11-under par.

The world’s reigning No. 1 followed up his Masters win with an RBC Heritage victory in late April.

Though he missed last weekend’s Wells Fargo Championship, with Rory McIlroy claiming the top prize, Scheffler was at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday ahead of the PGA Championship, which tees off Thursday.

When asked what fatherhood means to him, Scheffler told Golf Channel Monday it’s “far exceeded” his expectations.

“I had, I think, pretty high expectations about what it would feel like and I think those were far exceeded,” Scheffler said.

“I didn’t really know exactly what it would feel like, I thought it would be pretty great, it’s a pretty amazing feeling. It was fairly challenging leaving the house this morning… I told my little man when I was leaving, I don’t wanna leave but I gotta leave.”

Scheffler, who finished tied for second at the 2023 PGA Championship, enters this year’s tournament as a favorite, along with McIlroy and reigning champion Brooks Koepka, who has won the event three times.
