2022 midterm election results map: Here are the races we’re still watching

Follow along on our 2022 midterm election results map as several House and Senate races remain too close to call the morning after the polls closed on Election Day.

More than 122 million Americans voted in the 2018 midterm elections, the most in decades, and early voting totals indicated the 2022 midterms were on track to match or exceed that total.

All 435 seats in the House of Representatives were on the line Tuesday, with Republicans now expected to regain their House majority by winning at least 227 seats, according to a projection by RealClearPolitics.

In the Senate, both parties were looking to break the 50-50 deadlock that has been in place for the past two years, with tight races in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania holding the likely key to a majority. The latest projection by RealClearPolitics suggested Republicans would pick up three Senate seats from Democrats, giving them a 53-47 edge.

In addition, 36 gubernatorial elections were held across the US, including an unexpectedly close contest in New York between Democrat Kathy Hochul and GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin. Hochul was able to stave off her challenger to win a full term on Tuesday night, although Zeldin refused to concede.

Elsewhere, Republicans were also looking to regain the governors’ mansions in Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Wisconsin. As of Wednesday morning, Democrats were able to pull off victories in all of the above except for Nevada and Oregon, where races remained too close to call.
