Man, 22, gets dentures stuck in lung after swallowing them by accident

He sunk his teeth too far into this one.

A man is lucky to be alive after he suffered an epileptic seizure and almost choked to death on his dentures.

The unnamed 22-year-old man from Wisconsin was wearing a row of silver fake teeth when he suffered the freak accident, resulting in heavy coughing and wheezing.

He was taken to the hospital where an X-ray was taken, revealing he had the 1.5 inch denture stuck in the airway of his lung, according to the case study published this week in the Cureus medical journal.

Doctors then rushed the young man for a bronchoscopy to remove the object, using a flexible tube and feeding it down the man’s throat.

Eventually, the doctors successfully dislodged the false teeth from his lung airway.

The patient experienced bronchospasm – where muscles in the lung airway tighten – from the operation and was given steroid treatment before being discharged, Jam Press reported.

Earlier in May, a woman’s denture accident went viral after being posted to TikTok, when the false teeth fell out into her birthday cake as she took a bite.

Footage of the dental breakdown currently has over 82 million views on TikTok, showing a woman preparing to eat a piece of chocolate cake during what appears to be her birthday celebration.

However, when she attempts to taste the delectable looking cake, her dentures get stuck and are left lingering on the cake. Luckily, she sees the funny side, bursting into laughter over the mishap.
