Tonight Thursday Night Football is presenting a divisional matchup between the bottom two teams in the AFC West, the Los Angeles Chargers and the Las Vegas Raiders.
There are just a few weeks left in the 2023-23 NFL regular season (it’s Week 15 of 18), and as playoff berths are on the line, every game matters.
As it stands right now, if the regular season ended today, both the Chargers and Raiders are on the bubble, meaning they would not make the playoffs.
Both teams enter today’s game with identical 5-8 records. They’re also both coming off losses; the Chargers fell 24-7 to the Denver Broncos, but the Raiders failed to tally any points in their 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
The two teams have met once already this season; the Week 4 tilt between the Chargers and Raiders ended with a 24-17 victory for the Chargers.

What to expect from tonight’s game:
During last week’s game against the Broncos, Chargers QB Justin Herbert suffered a season-ending finger injury, so Los Angeles will play Easton Stick in the position tonight. It’ll be Stick’s first NFL start. The Raiders will once again go with rookie backup QB Aidan O’Connell.
Both teams will try to ramp up their offense tonight, but the Chargers will have a tough game against the Raiders’ defense due to injuries among other factors. Two of the Raider’s best offensive players are questionable to play tonight, though, so we may be looking at more of a defensive showdown than a high-scoring game.
