Schumer wants Bibi out of office: Letters to the Editor — March 19, 2024

The Issue: Sen. Chuck Schumer’s speech urging for the removal of Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu.

So, the esteemed senator from New York, Chuck Schumer, demands regime change for Israel’s government. And he decides to do it on the floor of the US Senate, facing the world stage (“. . . and Lieberman calls it ‘outrageous’,” March 18).

What a schmuck! Did he really expect Israelis to welcome this speech? His chutzpah is second to none. Even if he was right — pick up the phone and make a call.

By the way, for those with short-term memories, this is the same guy who thought it was a good idea to “relax the dress code” in the Senate. That lasted two days.

It seems like he has lost any filters he once had.

Your editorial distorting Schumer’s concern for the humanitarian chaos in Gaza, orchestrated by Netanyahu, into the senator’s “betrayal” is yellow journalism at its best (“Schumer vs. the Israeli People,” Editorial, March 18).

Destroying innocent women and children by starvation cannot be a solution. And the fact that Hamas started the war is no justification.

Wanting to stay in power in order to avoid jail time (sound familiar?), Netanyahu is committing one crime against humanity after another.

That will do nothing to dissuade the youth of Gaza from becoming the Hamas of tomorrow, fueling more hatred for Israel.

Schumer is in full-blown Bidenitis.

President Biden recently apologized to the alleged killer of Laken Riley for calling him an “illegal.” And now Schumer is calling for a change in leadership in Israel.

Wrong, idiot — the only change needed in leadership is in the US. With the current leadership here, who needs enemies?

Has Schumer forgotten who started this war with Israel? Previously a self-proclaimed strong supporter of the Jewish state, he is now sounding more like a Hamas public-relations expert.

Perhaps Schumer and the Squad should visit Gaza for a fact-finding mission. Israel didn’t want or start this war; Hamas did. And now Hamas wants to save its remaining terrorists.

Has Schumer forgotten the innocent Israelis who were killed and taken as hostages? Bibi may not always be right, but he is doing whatever is necessary to protect Israel.

So Schumer, you can continue being a lap-dog for the far-left faction of the Democratic Party.
I used to vote for you at election time. But now I most likely won’t.

Schumer has called for new elections in Israel to replace the right-wing government with one that is favorable to leftist ideologies. He sees nothing wrong with interfering in the affairs of another nation or their elections.

But then again, election interference is the hallmark of the Democratic Party.

My mouth dropped when I read the words that Schumer spoke on the floor of the Senate. He has gone full woke.

From what I understand, Bibi has very solid backing among Israelis. I remember when Schumer was a junior senator (after beating Al D’Amato) and he seemed level-headed then. Not anymore.

I see that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is quite upset over Sen. Chuck Schumer calling him an obstacle to peace who should be replaced.

Netanyahu claims that this was a crass attempt at interference in the internal political affairs of Israel, a sovereign nation.

This is the same Netanyahu who appeared before a joint session of Congress to openly denounce former President Barack Obama’s nuclear treaty negotiations with Iran. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

Schumer often claims that he is a staunch supporter of Israel. This calls to mind the saying: “With friends like these, who needs enemies?”
